About the East Neuk Centre Trust
The East Neuk Centre Trust is a local charity that manages four much-loved community venues in Anstruther and Cellardyke:
- Anstruther Town Hall – Main Hall, Lower Town Hall, Burgh Chambers, Learning Hub
- Cellardyke Town Hall – Main Hall, Kitchen, Studios, Former Burgh Chambers
- East Neuk Centre – Sports Hall, Coffee Bar, Meeting Room

These buildings are leased from Fife Council and used by local groups for classes, clubs, meetings and events. We also have a Service Level Agreement with Fife Council’s Community Learning and Development department.
The Trust was set up to support and strengthen community life across the East Neuk. Its aims include providing inclusive spaces for learning, recreation and social connection, as well as promoting sustainability and preserving the area’s culture and heritage.

What the trustees do
The East Neuk Centre Trust is overseen by a volunteer board of trustees, who also serve as company directors under Scottish charity law.
Trustees are responsible for the overall leadership, governance and long-term planning of the Trust. They make sure the charity stays true to its aims – from managing community spaces and supporting local groups, to improving facilities and promoting community development across the East Neuk.
Their duties include:
- guiding the Trust’s strategic direction
- overseeing finances and managing assets
- ensuring the charity meets its legal and regulatory responsibilities
- protecting the reputation and values of the Trust
Each trustee brings their own experience and skills – from planning and fundraising to working with people – to help shape decisions and support the work of staff and volunteers. It’s a team effort, grounded in care, commitment and a shared belief in the value of local community spaces.
Become a trustee
Are you interested in supporting your local community and shaping the future of the East Neuk’s much-loved venues? We’re always keen to hear from people who would like to get involved as a trustee.
Trustees help guide the work of the East Neuk Centre Trust – they make decisions about how the venues are run, support staff and volunteers, and plan for the future. It’s a voluntary role, and you don’t need to have previous experience as a trustee.
You just need to:
- support the aims of the Trust
- be willing to commit time and energy
- work well as part of a team
- bring good judgement and a positive attitude
We welcome people from all backgrounds – especially if you bring experience in areas like fundraising, facilities management, governance, communications or community development.
If you’re interested, we’d love to hear from you.
